Understanding/using vocabulary is one of the most important language skills, but learning how doesn’t have to be tricky; it can actually be fun! The right guidance for applying the best techniques can elevate students’ knowledge and help them tackle even the most difficult words.
We run weekly online spelling/vocabulary classes for year 3, year 4 and year 5 students. These classes focus primarily on words suitable for grammar and independent school exams. However, the knowledge they gain will be an excellent foundation for the rest of their lives.
Every week, students will be given 20 new words to learn. They will also research the meaning, as well as some antonyms, synonyms and different forms. Based on this knowledge, the students will then use the words correctly in their own original sentences. Once completed, this task will be uploaded online, so that the teacher can correct any mistakes and review them during the next class.
Classes will take place via Zoom and will be conducted by an experienced 11 plus tutor.
